Our Mission

Empowering Researchers to Address the World’s Most Pressing Challenges

UNIGAP Nexus Journal was established as the dedicated publishing platform of UNIGAP — Sri Lanka’s pioneering education and research organisation based in Colombo 07. With over five years of experience connecting local learners to global opportunities, UNIGAP recognised the need for a rigorous, accessible venue for the research produced by its academic community.

The journal’s mission is inseparable from UNIGAP’s broader vision: to bridge the gap between local knowledge and global expertise, and to make a measurable impact on Sri Lanka’s sustainable economic development and beyond.

We publish original research, critical reviews, and applied case studies that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, drawing on UNIGAP’s multidisciplinary network of over 200 professionals across academia and industry worldwide.

“To provide seamless pathways for local learners to access global learning experiences and make a measurable impact on the sustainable economic development of Sri Lanka and beyond.” — UNIGAP Mission Statement

Our Core Values

The Principles Behind Nexus Journal

Every decision we make — from editorial policy to publication speed — is guided by these foundational commitments.

Open Access for All

Every article is immediately and permanently open access — no paywalls, no embargoes. Licensed under CC BY 4.0, authors retain full copyright.

Rigorous Peer Review

All submissions undergo double-blind review by at least two independent experts, upholding the highest levels of academic rigour.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

The world’s greatest challenges rarely fit one discipline. We foster dialogue between engineering, social sciences, technology, and sustainability.

Speed Without Compromise

Accepted manuscripts are typeset, assigned a DOI, and published online within 72 hours — one of the fastest windows in academic publishing.

SDG Alignment

We prioritise research that contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals — from climate action to quality education and reduced inequalities.

Local Voices, Global Stage

We amplify research from Sri Lanka and South Asia on the global stage, giving regional scholars a credible, internationally visible platform.
